Old Freemen's - Surrey champions!
Sun 24th Apr 11
A massive congratulations from everyone here at Volkspeed to the new champions of the Surrey One rugby league, Ashtead's very own Old Freemen's! After a really exciting game, the boys came through to beat Chipstead 29 - 20 in a brilliant away victory. We've always been proud to sponsor Freemen's, and even more so with an excellent league result like this!

Aston Martin rebuild finished
Wed 19th Jan 11
The Aston is on the road! A fresh shiny engine, rebuilt front suspension and the old girl is gliding around with a smiling owner at the wheel again. It was certainly one of the bigger projects we've undertaken at Volkspeed in the last while but it has really paid off to see that machine take to the road again!

Volkspeed turns 25!
Thu 24th Sep 09
Volkspeed has been in Ashtead now for over 25 years.
The business originally started as a motor racing team with Chris Taylor in the driving seat and Trevor Grist as development engineer. The team ultimately won the British Formula Vee championship in 1983. Whilst the racing progressed they began to service and repair cars and Volkspeed Engineering was born in 1979 at workshops in Banstead, moving to the present site in Ashtead in 1984.
Volkspeed has two separate sections at the Craddocks Parade site...
The forecourt and showroom trades as Volkspeed Car Sales and is run by Trevor Grist. The workshops, MOT facility, servicing and accident repairs trade as Volkspeed Engineering Ltd and are run by Chris Taylor.
As local residents may know, Volkspeed franchised a rented car sales site and storage depot in Barnett Wood Lane for several years, that has now ceased and the current plans for a change of use are not connected with Volkspeed in any way.
The company has gained over thirty years of knowledge and experience in the motor trade and this is often tested by Ashtead’s motoring public! With its skilled and dedicated staff Volkspeed Engineering Ltd has the capability and technology to deal with all the demands of the modern vehicle.
Having endured several recessions and the most recent economic downturn, Volkspeed remains in excellent health and continues to go from strength to strength.

Aston Martin engine rebuild
Wed 4th Mar 09
Now this is a project very close to my heart. A customer is restoring an old Aston Martin DB2 and the engine was in need of some serious attention. I jumped at the chance to work on this - it's every mechanic's dream and I must say it really is a marvellous example of British engineering. The old Astons had some of the finest racing engines back in their day and we've managed to restore all of the original magic to this one... And made it look good too!

Snowed Under!
Tue 3rd Feb 09
We've been completely engulfed by snow! The freak weather which has taken most of South England by surprise has caused absolute chaos on the roads. But we weren't up for letting a little bit of snow get in our way! After quite a bit of effort, Chris managed to get his car out of the drive and make it down to Volkspeed. 2 hours, 4 shovels and a snowball fight later, the forecourt was cleared and we could get back to work. Accident repairs have been remarkably popular this last few days! Our advice is to stay at home unless your journey is absolutely necessary - the roads will remain very hazardous until the snow clears.
