Frequently Asked Questions

As an experienced team of mechanics, we get a lot of questions. If you have any queries about your vehicle, our services, or how we can help you, check below and see if your problem is already answered. If it isn't, please email us or ring us on 01372 277 888 and we'll do our best to help.

Are you really that much cheaper than the main dealers?

Yes. Our hourly rate for workshop time is typically around half that of a main dealer because our overheads are lower and we run a very efficient operation. We may not have a fancy cappuccino machine in the waiting area but we do have a team that get straight to work! In addition to savings on labour, our customers also benefit from our willingness to use after-market parts made to the same standards as manufacturers parts but available at a far lower price.

My MOT is a week out of date and I'm desperate, how can Volkspeed help?

As a general rule, we have a waiting list of about a week for regular bookings but we'll always accomodate an emergency situation by working late into the evening if necessary. Just ask!

I have a yellow warning light on my dashboard that looks like an engine. Is it serious?

The EML (Engine Management Light) is a generic warning. With our comprehensive diagnostic equipment we can analyse and repair any faults on virtually all makes. It may not be serious but don't leave it unchecked - pop in and see us as soon as possible.

How often should I check my tyre pressure?

There is a common misconception that tyres don't need to be checked between services and that once a year is generally enough. This is not true - tyre pressure can drop remarkably quickly and an unchecked tyre could be well below the recommended pressure. It's good practise to check tyre pressure once every 4 - 6 weeks, and always before heading off on long journeys. Pop in and see us, we're always happy to help.
